Act Up America

I’m Mad.

June 10, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’m mad, upset, frustrated. However you want to look at it I am unhappy. I see websites like digg and reddit awash with information that should stir even the most timid person to action, but nothing happens. In the last several days it was even declared by congress that the President of the United States lied to America and led us into a war with these lies. A war where 4800 Americans have died. Why are more people not in the streets and on the phone with their congressmen and senators? Why are we content to sit behind our keyboards and gripe while our country is hijacked by madmen who have done more damage to the American way of life than any terrorist group could ever hope for? Let’s turn those keyboards towards the problem and make our voices heard. With modern technology we hold the power, use the internet to talk, organize and act. Act up.

It’s my goal in this blog (and a lofty goal it is, i know) to help provide us with a way to fight back. I’ll do my best to bring all the most offensive acts of our nations leaders into the light here (with lots of help from the internet, and hopefully from you). But I want to go one step beyond just blogging about what seems like a constant decay of the constitution. With your help we need to take the fight back to Washington and win America back. I’ll do my best to provide the tools for doing that here.

On a lot of sites around the net you’ll read that it’s to late for America, the we are “to far gone”. The frightening truth is that it might soon be coming to that. But right now we still have a chance to fight. So let’s stop laying down and act up. Technology has given us a powerful tool. Let’s learn to use it.

Don’t lie down America. Act up.

There are no protests in the streets because most of us are not directly affected by the war. If there was a DRAFT you would see people rioting. Because rich, poor, black, white, asian, native americans, latino/hispanic and people from North, SOuth, East and West would be ripped from their homes and lives to serve. Once people are personally affected then and only then will we see demonstrations. Maybe that was Bush’s plan all along. I remember him telling ‘us’ to go shopping, lead your regular lives, not worry about the war. Bush (even though an idiot) knew what is was doing. He knew how to keep us quiet.

And guess what, we did. We continued with our lives as usual. We didn’t even miss a step.

Of couse this collective ‘we’ does not include our soldiers and their loved ones — they live and feel the pain everyday.

I think you hit it on the head. Bush is not as stupid as everyone thinks he is, which makes it all the more necessary for us to act now.
I also agree one hundred percent with you about the soldiers. Several of my friends are in Iraq and Afghanistan at this very moment. This is not their war, they just happen to be caught in the middle of a terrible predicament and my heart is with them.
